2001

July 31, 2001

  • On April 22, 2001, the Board of Directors established the new position of a part-time Executive Director for the Brinton Association of America (BAA). This is an essential step in implementing the Association's mission and the Board's strategic plan, toward making the BAA a more viable, dynamic family association and insuring the future of The William Brinton 1704 House and Historic Site. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to fund the first year's salary for this employee, and we need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today.

July 12, 2001

  • *New!* You can now post family news (recent births, marriages, deaths, etc.) on this web site! Any such news you submit will also be forwarded to the BAA Genealogical Secretary for inclusion in future Brinton genealogy books. However, please send any genealogical updates older than one year (or any news you wish to have appear only in the published books and not on the web site) to her directly: Denise Brinton Berti / BAA Genealogical Secretary / 3698 Dearborn Rd. / Evington, VA 24550-1830 (or, via e-mail: genealogy@brintonfamily.org).

May 22, 2001

  • The Big Brinton Family Reunion will be held on Friday July 13 and Saturday July 14, 2001, at the Murray LDS Stake Center Recreation Pavilion, in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the FIRST reunion to be held in the west for the Brinton Family Association (now, Brinton Association of America) combined with Descendants of David Brinton (1814) Utah Pioneer. The cost to register is $10 per person for the two-day reunion program and Friday-night dinner, plus an additional $5 per meal for breakfast and lunch on the Saturday. Family rates are available.

  • Plans are underway to prepare an update of the red book David Brinton 1814 Utah Pioneer to include those born after 1976. We are grateful to Virginia Wagstaff Bushman for researching and publishing this book. She also published The Dilworth Families in America. Virginia died June 4, 1999; she had been the Brinton family genealogist for many years.

Plans are also underway to prepare future genealogy books for The Brinton Association of America. We need suggestions and volunteers for keeping our records up-to-date with marriages, moving, births, and deaths. Please contact the BAA Genealogical Secretary, Denise Brinton Berti, at 3698 Dearborn Rd., Evington, VA 24550-1830 (or, via e-mail: genealogy@brintonfamily.org) if you can help and/or you have family information to pass along for these planned publications.

April 27, 2001

  • On April 22, 2001, the Brinton Family Association's Board of Directors met and unanimously approved the renaming of the organization to: "The Brinton Association of America, Inc." They also voted to change the name of The Brinton 1704 House to "The William Brinton 1704 House and Historic Site".

March 5, 2001

  • The next Brinton Family Association Reunion will be held on Friday July 13 and Saturday July 14, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Association has blocked out some hotel rooms for your convenience in making reservations, and the reunion festivities will include an area tour, meals, and other activities providing fun for everyone. Come share your displays, charts, pictures, and genealogy records with your western cousins. You might even want to stay a little longer to do some genealogical research or local sight-seeing. Make plans now to travel to Salt Lake City!
