General Information about the 2001 Reunion

For the first time, The Brinton Association of America is holding its annual Brinton Family Reunion in the west, as a combined effort with a group called "The Descendants of David Brinton (1814) Utah Pioneer". As always, all descendants (and their families) of William and Ann Brinton are invited.

• When: Friday July 13 and Saturday July 14, 2001

Reunion 2001 Agenda

Wed. & Thurs. July 11-12 (On your own)	Sight-seeing, including 2002 Winter Olympics sites, National Parks, Family History Library, and Legacy Theater Bus- or self-guided tours, including Brinton homes in Holladay (UT) and the "Pioneer Trail" Shopping, etc.
Friday July 13 (At Chapel)	9:00 am: Registration begins Exploring Family Tree, Literature Exchange, Genealogy Records, "Cousin-talk." Plus, games and activities for kids!! 10:00 am: Depart parking lot for genealogical-research trip to the Family History Library 1:00 pm: Depart parking lot for Salt Lake City area tour 6:00 pm: Dinner 7:30 pm: Program, including skits, etc.
Saturday July 14 (At Pavilion)	7:30 am: Breakfast Elections, reports, more games, activities, and visiting Brinton homes in Holladay (UT) -- self-guided tour (1.5 hours) 12:30 pm: Lunch
Sunday July 15 (Meet in parking lot)	8:00 am: Depart for 9:15 Tabernacle Choir Broadcast

Salt Lake City Orientation

Temple Square occupies a full city block (10 acres). The southeast (SE) corner of Temple Square is the *origin* of all street and house numbers for the entire Salt Lake valley. Using the grid (checker) system, the streets run east (E) & west (W), north (N) & south (S) from that point of origin.

One block south of origin is 100 South (First South); two blocks south is 200 South (2nd South), etc. One block east of origin is State Street, with the State Capitol at the extreme north end. Two blocks east is 200 East (2nd East), etc.

There are seven blocks to a mile.

The reunion site is 46 blocks south of Temple Square and 6/10 block east of State Street.

On Friday, July 13th at 1:00 pm, the reunion committee will conduct a no-charge tour of:

1. Temple Square,
2. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) Conference Center,
3. Family History Library and the Museum of Church History and Art,
4. Church (LDS) Office Building,
5. Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and
6. Lion House and Beehive House

Additionally, maps and self-guided tour scripts for the Holladay area Brinton homes sites, for the "Last 20 Miles of the Mormon Pioneer Trail", and for Salt Lake City in general will be available at Reunion Registration on Friday morning the 13th. The "blocked-in" prices will be good until June 14, 2001, and are saved under the name "BRINTON REUNION".

Directions: Take the I-15 on/off ramp at 4500 South. (Grid system streets; seven blocks to the mile.)
